2002 Korakukan Visit

This March the Silver Creek family grew by 15 students and 2 teachers. Korakukan High School from Okayama, Japan paid their annual visit to the our high school and the students from Silver Creek’Äôs Thunderously Hip Japanese Program guided the guests on campus and off-campus during a whirlwind four-day tour. This year the Japanese students got an extra benefit’Äîthe opportunity to watch the Fantastics show on Saturday night. Sunday, besides being a day of rest, was devoted to visiting San Francisco, the Monterey Aquarium, and go-cart racing. On Monday and Tuesday the Japanese students shadowed the Silver Creek students and visited various classes. After school on Tuesday the closing ceremony was held by D-7 and this time the hosts were treated to a display of kimonos and a bevy of songs sung by the Japanese guests. The tables were soon turned as Mr. Hall, Mr. Seal, and 12 Silver Creek Japanese Program students left on April 2nd for a week of culture, sightseeing, and language immersion in Okayama!
