On April 4th, 2004, three Japanese students represented Silver Creek High School at the 12th Annual National Japan Bowl in Washington D.C. This competition pits schools from all over the nation against one another in a Jeopardy-format answering questions about Japanese language, culture, history and politics in Japanese! This year, Silver Creek fielded one team at the Japanese 2 level. Our Japanese 2 team kept up the strong traditions for excellence set by previous SCTHJP teams, placing 5th in a field of 20 schools. During their time in our nation’Äôs capitol, the team members also found time to tour the city, take part in the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, and visit the Japanese Embassy for a reception hosted by the Ambassador and American-born Sumo Grand Champion Musashimaru. Of course, all thanks and accolades belong solely with our wonderful student/competitors who worked tirelessly to prepare for the competition.
The 2003-2004 Silver Creek High School Japan Bowl Team Members are: Gumaro Diaz (captain),Alex Ho,and Kim Hoang.
