2010-11 SCTHJP Homework Assignments

Remember, your homework is due at the beginning of class, BEFORE the bell rings. Also, please remember to have your homework ready to turn in when you come back to class after missing a day or two. Essentially, what that means is that if you miss Monday, then on Tuesday you need to turn in both Monday and Tuesday homework to get credit. Homework is the easiest way to practice your skills and improve. Choose to do every assignment, one day at a time, and you will do fine.

Also, when you look at the your grade online and see yourself dropping below 75% or so in the homework portion of the grade, you might want to change your ways. I advise you to do so because my data suggest that any student who does less than 75% of the homework usually does not pass the course. I have been teaching for more than a decade and I can only think of a handful of students who defied the odds in this regard. Basically, homework=practice=mastery=high grade in course. No homework=no practice=familiarity=lower grade in course. It's quite logical when you stop to think about it .

Lastly, some of you may have difficulties viewing the homework pages that have hiragana and kanji on them. If you have problems, first try going to the View menu on your web browser and changing the Encoding to UTF-8, or to Japanese (there are several choices usually). If that doesn't work, try enabling the Asian Fonts on your computer. A very easy to understand video description of this process for Windows Vista can be found Here and for Windows XP Here. If your computer is a Mac, then check out this site.
