2007 Japan Trip and Homestay

Every year students from the Silver Creek Thunderously Hip Japanese Program (SCTHJP) take a trip to Japan to visit the wonderful students and families of Korakukan High School in Okayama, Japan. This relationship, begun several years ago by Mr. Rushton Hurley, has grown into a strong connection--remains one of the jewels out of the many activities in which SCTHJP students may partake. This year, for the first time in the history of the program, we added Tokyo to our trip itinerary. Our first stop, as always, was in Kyoto. We stayed there two days and visited such sites as Kiyomizudera and, new this year, the Fushimi Inari temple. As we have done for the last five years, we also took a day trip to see the Atomic Peace Park in Hiroshima. Next, we moved on to our home stays in Okayama. Lastly, it needs to be mentioned that this trip had more students than ever before--21 young scholars in total. All in all, this trip represents a not-to-be missed opportunity for the serious student who wants to learn and have fun in a foreign country.
